Lieutenant General Robert L. Moore, VPI class of 1952, is married to Carol Lee Montgomery, has two children, Robert Moore and Leeza Moore, and has six grandchildren.

Military Service:

General Moore was commissioned a second lieutenant from the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.  He has served as both a district and division engineer and has commanded an engineer battalion and a division support command.  He has had tours in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics and the Office of the Vice Chief of Staff at the Pentagon.  General Moore has served a total of 12 years in the Army Materiel Command; as Director of Plans and Analysis and Chief of Staff, HQ AMC; as Commanding General, US Army Missile Command and as Deputy Commanding General for Research, Development and Acquisition, HQ AMC.  His numerous awards include the Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters.
